Dave has crafted this elegant notched top whorl drop spindle from birdseye maple and cocobolo woods. The 2 3/4 inch birdseye maple whorl features a beautiful pyrographed rose and leaf motif. The cocobolo shaft measures 9 inches below the whorl. The overall length of this one of a kind handspinning tool is 10 1/2 inches. This 1.8 ounce drop spindle also features a brass hook. Additional photos can be found at the Etsy listing for this spindle and in our Flickr spindle portfolio.

Picnik.com's New Flickr Slideshow

I've been using Picnik.com for some time now to edit photos for our Grizzly Mountain Arts items, and I've also used Flickr as an online portfolio of our work. Recently, Picnik.com has created a wonderful new utility that makes slideshows from your Flickr sets! It's all integrated--you click on Flickr from within Picnik, then select the set you would like to make a slideshow presentation from, then Picnik generates the html for you.

The slideshow above is from our Flickr "Tatting Shuttle" set. If you would like to view more of our Grizzly Mountain Arts Flickr portfolio, please click here.

A Little Change

If you entered www.grizzlymountainarts.com today expecting to find our website, you may have been surprised to find our blog. Our web tracking data has shown that most of our visitors are coming directly to our blog now instead of our original website, so we decided to redirect our url to point to our blog.

Our galleries of previously sold fiber art tools can now be found at Flickr. You can easily find all of our photos by clicking on the photo in the right hand column that says "Click Photo to View Gallery". It is the same photo as seen in this post.

Handcrafted Mushroom French Spool Knitter

Here’s a neat little novelty spool knitter! Dave has handcrafted this 4 inch tall spool knitter using spalted maple for the mushroom cap and cedar for the barrel with burn etched mushrooms around the base. The companion needle is made from a joining of olive wood, walnut and mesquite. The four knitting pins are solid brass which will not rust. This unique set has been initialed and dated by Dave.

More photos of this spool knitter can be found at the Ebay auction and at Flickr.com.

Tatting Shuttle Showcase on Flickr!

Tatting Shuttle Showcase on Flickr!

**This is the same group as before, only the name has been changed**

I have been looking around Flickr for a tatting shuttle specific group, and when I couldn't find one, I thought I'd start one! So many of us have photos of tatting shuttles we've made or have collected over the years and it's a shame not to have them all in one large collection.

If you are on Flickr and have photos of your tatting shuttles that you would like to share with the world, please feel free to post them in the group! This invitation is extended to everyone--collectors and creators!
