Hitty's Fossil Ivory Quill and Inkwell

Over the years, Dave made several of these miniature fossil mammoth ivory Hitty doll inkwells and carved fossil walrus ivory quills. He turned the inkwell on his lathe and hand carved the feather quill pen. We thought that he had sold the last one prior to our relocation, but here we are 4 years later still unpacking boxes and finding unsold or unfinished items including this Quill and Inkwell. This is the last, unless we find another, since Dave sold his lathes prior to moving and no longer does lathe turnings. The inkwell is 1/2 in diameter by 1/2 inch high. The carved feather quill adds another 1 1/2 inches making the set 2 inches high. Note: Cannot be shipped to addresses in CA, HI, NV, NJ, NY or IL.

This set is now for sale on our website.

Tatting Shuttle Fob

Dave just completed this commissioned piece which features a working tatting shuttle carved from fossil mammoth ivory. This miniature 1 1/4" scrimshawed tatting shuttle hangs from a fob beaded with Swarovski crystals. The fob can be removed from the lobster claw clasp on one end, and the other end also has a clasp which can be attached to a picot hook.

Thumbelina Matchbox Tatting Shuttle

This is for that shuttle collector who does not have EVERYTHING yet! This miniature ivory shuttle is nearly the size of a thumbnail and fits nicely in the accompanying matchbox which we decoupage’ with the tiny THUMBELINA theme. The shuttle is approx 1 ¼ inch long and I color scrimshawed THUMBELINA hugging a rose that is larger than she is. The ivory is ancient wooly mammoth from Russia. Mammoth have been extinct for 10,000 years. This shuttle is currently up for auction on Ebay.

Handmade Miniature Mammoth Ivory Tatting Shuttle

I don’t know if this is the smallest working shuttle, but it has to be close to it. Dave made this itty bitty tatting shuttle from ancient wooly mammoth ivory from Russia. It is just 1 ¼ inches long. You can tat with it, use it as a key chain fob or as a necklace pendant (chains not included and are for show and tell only). The design on both sides are hand carved and inlaced with brass. Mammoth have been extinct for 10,000 years.

This itty bitty tatting shuttle is currently up for auction on Ebay with an opening bid of .99!
