Mini Russian Style Support Spindle Hair Sticks

We have listed four more of the mini Russian style support spindle hair sticks in our Etsy shop this evening.  The woods used in these are tiger maple, walnut, myrtlewood and cherry.  The walnut spindle also has a turquoise accent ring.

Mini Russian Spindle Hair Stick

Is it a mini Russian support spindle, or a hair stick?  Actually, it's both!

This sweet little 7 1/4 inch birch Russian style support spindle, that features Dave's signature pyrographic leaf motif, can do double duty as a beautiful hair stick and as a travel size handspinning tool. The weight of this spindle is 0.2 ounces (5g).

New Basswood Flat Style Tatting Shuttles

Six new basswood flat style tatting shuttles were added to our Etsy shop today.  They include the Little Queen Bee, cat paw prints, butterfly, ladybug, hummingbird and dragonfly.

New Top Whorl Drop Spindles

These beautiful handspinning tools were recently added to our Etsy shop.  The top whorl drop spindle on the left is a mini top whorl made from Pacific yew (the whorl) and walnut.  The top whorl drop spindle on the right has a myrtlewood whorl and a Brazilian cherry shaft.

Small Sgraffito Ceramic Prep Bowl Set

These sweet little earthenware clay prep bowls measure 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. They are perfect for so many things like tapas bowls, sauces, nuts, candies or even small soaps and jewelry. Jo made these without the benefit of a wheel, so their slight imperfections make them truly one of a kind pieces. She has sgraffito'd, carved into the clay, a floral design in to the bottom of each bowl.

Lead free pale green and black underglaze, and lead free clear overglaze was used to finish the bowls making them food safe.

Walnut Flat Style Tatting Shuttle

This beautiful walnut tatting shuttle is 3 1/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick.  Dave made the resin adornment by making a mold of an antique button. Beeswax was used to finish this shuttle, and it has been initialed and dated by Dave.

New Upcycled Flat Style Tatting Shuttles

Six new flat style tatting shuttles were listed in the "Fiber Art Tool" section of our Etsy shop today.  These shuttles are 3 1/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick. Dave made the resin adornments by making a mold of an antique button, and beeswax was used to finish the shuttles.

New Andean/Peruvian Style Bottom Whorl Drop Spindles

Six new Andean style reproduction spindles have been added to our Etsy shop!  Andean spindles are suspended drop spindles with no frills...no hook, no notches and no grooves. They were developed to spin long-staple alpaca and other camelid fibers native to the Andes. Spinning is done off the side using a half hitch.  

New Support Spindle Bowls

Six new support spindle bowls were listed in our Etsy shop this evening.  The spindle bowls above, were crafted from figured maple, and the lap support spindle bowls below were made from ambrosia maple.  Our spindle bowls, which are an original design, feature a ceramic insert which provides a fast, efficient surface for your spindle.  Additional photos of these handspinning tools can be found here. 

Swiss Pear Flat Style Tatting Shuttle with Carved Rose Motif

Swiss Pear was the wood chosen by Dave to create this beautiful 3 1/4 inch long flat style tatting shuttle. He has carved his signature rose and leaf motif onto one side, and painted it with acrylic paint. Diamond glaze was used to seal the paint to protect it from wear. Beeswax was used to finish this shuttle.  You can find this little beauty for sale in our Etsy shop.
