This is Dave’s newest personalized OOAK artisan tatting shuttle. He will burn etch a single stylized initial of your choosing after your purchase. This may require some additional time before shipping. This shuttle is approximately 3 inches long and handcrafted out of maple veneer wood.  Dave hand sketches his art designs onto the shuttle and then burn etches his designs with razor tip pyrography pens. Each shuttle has a shellac and hand rubbed wax finish.

This is another OOAK Doodle Art Shuttle handcrafted, initialed and dated by Dave. Dave is a scrimshaw artist and has done scrimshaw inked etchings on fossil ivory, bone and antler for years.  His pyrography Doodle Art, also called Tangle Art, is similar to his needle etched fine art on ivory except it is burn etched into wood using very fine razor tipped pyrography pens and a magnifying lens. Like scrimshaw, this painstaking work takes several hours over several sessions to finish. It is done freehand without laser or template so no two are ever alike.

Thread Crochet/Tatting Picot Hooks

Three new fiber tools were just listed in our Etsy shop. The "Easy Flick" Portuguese style spindle above was crafted from hard maple and weights 1.7 ounces (46 grams). The two post style tatting shuttles below measure 3 inches in length and are also crafted by Dave from hard maple.

Two new spindles were just listed in our Etsy shop this afternoon. The French reproduction spindle was crafted by Dave from hard maple, and he has adorned it with his signature pyrographed leaf motif. Dave crafted the midi weight top whorl drop spindle from cherry and birch. The aluminum insert was painted by Jo with alcohol inks, and sealed with resin.

New Double Ended Crochet Hooks for Easy

Dave has crafted four beautiful double ended crochet hooks for our Etsy shop. The 7 1/2 inch long hooks feature centerpieces of cocobolo, padauk, and bocote. These hooks have been sold.

Cascade Collection Tatting Shuttle

Dave has recently added an airbrush system to his studio, and as such has added a new line of tatting shuttles he is calling his Cascade Collection. Three of these new tatting shuttles are on the way to our Etsy shop.

Dave was inspired by the Fernware shuttles made in Mauchline, Scotland during the 19th century. The unique shuttles, sewing notions and boxes were decorated by using real fern leaves and other floral leaves in a reverse stenciling technique to develop beautiful designs that were shaped by nature. Since we live in the heart of the Cascade Mountain region and have an abundance of ferns and other floral leaves available, Dave wanted to reproduce an artisan shuttle similar to the antique shuttles once produced in Scotland. His Cascade Collection shuttles will include those with designs on a single side as well as some with double sides. He hopes to expand the collection to include other fiber tools such as spindles and spool knitters.

Jo has introduced a new line of wearable art pendants to our Etsy shop. She has created them using alcohol ink on glass. Each glass "canvas" has been set in a silver plate bezel. Prices range from $18-$23. A flat suede cord and gift box are included, and shipping is always free within the United States.
